Araujo's love for art started at the early age of six when she discovered the incredible joy of drawing and painting. She started her art schooling immersing herself into many children's workshops in her hometown in Colombia where she experimented with oil pastels, colored pencils and watercolors, moving into other mediums until finally deciding for pastels and pen & ink which are now her favorites.
After graduating from high school she moved to Florida and continued her artistic career enrolling in the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where she graduated in 1993 with an Associate degree in Advertising Design. She continued her studies at Lynn University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Arts.
In between these studies she continued producing multiple drawings and paintings, not only as part of her studies, but also to follow her own artistic practices. Through those endeavours she landed a few art teaching enrichment positions leading her career into the art education field. She will be soon into her seventh year of teaching Drawing, painting, ceramics, and graphic design in High School.
Doris Araujo is an interdisciplinary artist and educator who resides in Florida. She now wishes to continue her endeavour into a Master of Fine Arts program that could allow her to expand her career and take her art work into another level.
